Days Twelve - Seventeen

OK here goes (Man is it hard for me to update this daily) :D

March 12th, Day Twelve
I Was feeling crazy today and decided to try something with braids. I braided a little crown around my head and left half the hair down.I thought it looked awesome!!!!

March 13th, Day Thirteen
I did a great job of straitening my hair today, but when I showed up to school I had a student waiting for me so she could fix it. I thought it looked ok, but she decided to bump it and then put it in a ponytail. It was ok, but I am getting little sick of the bump, Damn you Snooki!!!!

March 14th-Day Fourteen
Once again my students decided to do my hair, and this was by far my least favorite. Basically everything was crimped and then bumped into a crazy mess. I wore it all day and all I wanted to do was pull it back. :(

March 15th- Day Fifteen
Thank God for Hat Day, because I needed a break from doing my hair. I let it dry natural and brushed it out the next morning. I put some anti-frizz product in it (like you can tell) and threw on a hat. Best day ever!

March 16th- Day Sixteen
I decided to straighten my hair again and not let anyone touch it. It was the second time I have ever used a blow drier to completely dry my hair and then straighten it. (Crazy right?). I loved it, even though some people told me I looked the the girl from The grudge :)

March 17th- Day Seventeen. Happy St. Patty's Day!!
I kept the hair straight and added some braids to one said. I thought it was a cool new idea for me and it was really simple. I will definitely do this again.

Days Eight - Eleven

March 8th (Day Eight)
Alice was finally feeling good enough to go to school, so I got to go to work:)
I arrived with a somewhat straight hair style, but as soon as I arrived I had a student show up and fix my hair. She straightened it and bumped it a bit. Can I tell you I LOVE when someone does my hair. I feel so....awesome and fancy. :)

March 9th (Day Nine)
Today was a teacher work day which meant no kids, so I didn't feel like I needed to do anything super fancy. I just pulled my hair back in a bun and used a hairband to change it up. Just a nice little hairstyle.

March 10th (Day Ten)
Today was my very first day helping out TVR as Freshmeat publicly. I was so excited to get out there and help be the "face" of our organization. Even though I am not an official roller-girl, I know one day I will be. As for my hair I was a little disappointed with my bangs. My hairstylist wasn't working and I realized I couldn't wait any longer for bang trim so I went to someone else. BAD CHOICE. She cut my bangs too short and I left crying. I feel better about then now, but it was a tough couple of days.

March 11th (Day Eleven)
Today was another derby day so I used up my simple, boring ponytail. Who knows what I will do for the next couple of Sundays. Pigtails? Braids? You'll have to wait and see... ;)

Hair Days Four - Seven

So let me start by saying this challenge is HARD. In addition my phone has decided to only take pictures half the time and I lost my camera cord to upload pictures from the damn thing. Needless to say I have been a mess, but I have been staying true to the 31 in 31 to the best of my ability.

March 4th (Day Four) was Sunday (Derby Days) and I have decided that since I do Derby in the A.M. then go to my in-laws and I don't even get home until 6 P.M. I will deem Sunday challenge free, but deal with the "derby hair" monstrosity.

March 5th (Day Five) Monday was a crazy day because Alice woke up super sick and I had to call in sick to work. I ad done a simple pony-tail and wrapped my hair around itself, but no one really got to see it. But hey at least I did something.

March 6th (Day Six)
I went to work I had some students waiting to do my hair. They are still pretty excited about the whole deal so I said why not. I have to say that I LOVED what they did to my hair I almost went out and bought a hair wand so I could try it myself. :)

March 7th (Day Seven)
Once AGAIN Alice was sick so I had to stay home with her. WE decided (yes Alice voted too) that we wouldn't do anything with our hair at all so that is what I did. Hey it was technically different, so it counts.

Hair Day Three

Last night Alice was up all night coughing, so needless to say this morning was not a good day for some fancy "new do". But I wasn't going to quit one day three so I did try something a little different. Usually on the weekends I throw my hair in a messy bun and leave it at that. I don't even attempt to brush it. Today I actually pulled it up into a high (really high for me) messy bun. I brushed it and everything. :) I side-swept the bangs again, but tomorrow I think I'll go back to normal bangs.

After I did my hair Alice decided I should do her hair too. So I tried out something new and sectioned her hair into three pony tails and gave her a pony tail Mohawk.

(I'll be doing this with my own hair this month too.) She told me she looked pretty and so I take that as a "good job mom!"
Tomorrow will be tricky since I have Derby in the morning, but maybe I see another pony tail in my future. I'm a little scared tat I am going to run of pulled back hair ideas and I'll be stuck with nothing but leaving it down for the last part of the month. That will drive me crazy.

My March Maddness

So February is done and I am proud to say that I have still not had any fast food (with the exception of a large Diet Coke thanks to my good friend Kim). This has helped with cost and my weight loss journey. While I haven’t lost a ton of weight, only a couple of pounds, I have been building muscle due to Roller Derby practices twice a week. The lack of fast food has made my body feel great. I can’t believe how well February went!

As for March…… it is already proving to be much more difficult than I expected. So to help keep myself on track I plan on posting pictures daily (or as daily as possible) of each hair styles and what they are. Yesterday (March 1st) I took the advice of a friend and put my hair into 8 different braids. I usually don’t shower at night because my hair takes forever to dry, but I had Derby practice that evening and I was all sorts of smelly. So I got home, showered, and sectioned my hair off and put it in braids. Then I slept in my braids. When I woke up I took out all the braids and curled the ends of my hair a bit and …viola! I actually liked what I saw. Throughout the day my students were full of compliments, which is rare when it comes to my hair. I must say this is definitely a hair style I will need to add to my repertoire.

Today (March 2nd) was not as successful. My Pep Club had their club picture today and I was trying to do a big, sporty ponytail with side swept bangs. But, of course, I feel like it came out too big and frizzy. Nevertheless I stuck it out. I liked the side-swept bangs, but I plan on trimming them this week since they desperately need it, so I won’t be able side-sweep again for a while. I had mixed reviews from my kids, but they all agreed it was good that I tried. Plus, Brian said I am cute and that is all that really matters. ;)

Two down....ten to go.

OK, so this may be a little premature, but I am super excited on my "monthly resolutions" progress. January went great! I managed to wear a different outfit everyday and I even found myself continuing a bit into February. Now I am back to the same 10% of clothing, but every now and then I will throw on something completely different. :)

Here where some things I hadn't worn in years, if ever.

February is proving to be difficult, but doable. I have successfully had no "fast food" since January 31st. This is with two exceptions. On Valentine's Day my family has a tradition of ordering a heart-shaped pizza from Idaho Pizza Company (my very first job was at an IPC). :) I wasn't going to break a 5 year tradition for a simple resolution.

(I even wore an outfit I hadn't worn in a year) ____________

The other thing Brian and I agreed on was that Subway did not count as "fast food" So for the month so far (only 3 days to go) I have had home-cooked meals everyday (except Subway on parent/teacher conferences) I rock!!!
I have also decided to change things up a bit and I have switched March and April's resolutions. So in 3 days I will have to wear my hair in a different style everyday. April will be a different dinner everyday. Honestly the only reason I am switching things up is that my female students are soooooooo excited about the hair thing that I told them I would let them help me. I don't think that's cheating, is it?

Hopefully I will remember to take a picture everyday and post my favorites so you all can see what I have been doing. (Plus it might keep me accountable) :)

And so it begins....

Here I am not even a month in and I am already falling into bad habits. While my January resolution of "A different outfit everyday" is going surprisingly well, the idea of a healthier lifestyle is looking more and more like "I'll get to it when I get to it." I don't know why I lack the motivation to stay strong and break the cycle of procrastination. I have been skipping the gym, which I totally get pissed about; I have been eating larger portions and crappier food. So of course when I weigh myself the number keeps slowly but surely increasing. I know we all get slumps so I just need to push though it. Brian said he will help me too.
On the other hand, I have been doing other things though that I have to say I am quite proud of. Today for example I went to my very first Women's Retreat through my church. I have to say I was nervous, I have only recently become motivated in my faith, but I feel as though this is exactly where I am supposed to be. We had a one day "retreat" today and I had a fabulous time. Now I would be lying if I said I was 100% satisfied; I think my teacher training and event planning backgrounds have ruined me for events. I find it very hard to tolerate miss managed time and poor planning. But once I got passed all of that, I really did have a great time. We had yummy food, good laughs, a fun raffle, I met some new people, and I even left with a new recipe and some wooden spoons. I spent a lot of time thinking about God's plan for me and my family and I feel renewed so to speak.
I also have been writing daily. One of my Creative Writing III students gave me a box of note cards with ever date of this year stamped on it. I have to write everyday on one of the note cards. It is a freaking adorable idea and I love the girl for thinking it was something I would enjoy.

I guess all in all it hasn't been so bad. I have been taking time for me, growing in my faith, and I ave been sticking to a couple of resolutions ;). I will keep pushing forward and I sure the other things will fall into place.
